The crib's skirt is a little hard to see because of the design of the crib. It is green with white polka dots. The sheet has all the colors in the room on it.
The toddler bedskirt is plaid with a bit of yellow running through it. The sheet is yellow with a very light white paisley on it.
I also made an extra sheet with little green birds on it, and I already had a plain yellow one...extra sheets are a must for those yummy explosive diapers as I'm sure you know. =)
MADE has an excellent tutorial for crib sheets, so I won't attempt to improve on that. I did make mine slightly bigger than her directions, 70 inches by 44 inches. I also used just one pack of half inch elastic per sheet.
The crib skirt is very simple to make. Cut out a rectangle of whatever cotton you have on hand, I used broadcloth. It needs to be the size of your mattress, 28 inches by 52 inches. The fullness of the skirt depends on your taste. To have a gathered one I would double the length of each side. For my plaid one I only did one box pleat in the very center of each side.
I only added three extra inches to the length to do this. For the polka dot one, I added about 15 extra inches and did several pleats.
